          Department  Profile:   

                                                     The Department of Botany, Government Degree College, Gajapathinagaram,Vizianagaram dist, was established in the year 2019, as a result of sanction of Science sections having C.B.Z (Chemistry, Botany and Zoology.) . It is affiliated to Andhra University, Visakhapatnam.  This Government Degree College is Nearest to the district Head quarters of Vizianagaram,. Initially the department faced all the juvenile problems with regard to insufficient staff, accommodation, and laboratory equipment. But gradually, the position improved in all the important aspects of the Department. The department started with sanctioning of Two Lecturer posts. Dr. D.S.Madhava Rao was appointed as Lecturers when the department was started.

                                                      The department has one well equipped laboratory. The Department is carrying instruction in Telugu and English Medium with Zoology,Chemistry combination.As per the Government orders Botany Major with Zoology Minor Group is carrying from 2023 on words.
